J-POLY 101A is a direct functional equivalent — low molecular weight polyacrylic acid, partially neutralized, roughly 50% solids. Made in Manvel, Texas, sold with no minimum order, and shipped without hazmat paperwork.
Usually one of three reasons
A price increase came through and purchasing wants a competitive quote. A distributor is out of stock or has raised the minimum order past what you actually use. Or someone upstairs has asked you to qualify a second source on a single-supplier raw material before it becomes a problem.
All three are reasonable. None of them require you to rip out a working formulation on our say-so — they require a sample, a bottle test, and a supplier who will still answer the phone in eighteen months.

Normalize on actives, not on price per pound
Polyacrylate is quoted as supplied, and supply concentrations vary between roughly 40% and 50% solids. Two quotes at the same price per pound can differ by a fifth on the polymer you are actually buying.
price per pound ÷ solids fraction = price per pound of active polymer
Run that on every quote in front of you, including ours. It is the only way to compare a 44% product against a 50% one, and it occasionally reverses which quote is cheaper.
Our certificate of analysis states batch-specific percent solids, so you can check the math against what actually arrived rather than against a brochure figure.
Tell us what you are running
Beyond 101A we make three more acrylic homopolymers at different neutralizations and solids, and we supply an AA/AMPS copolymer and an AA/AMPS/NI terpolymer for harder water and produced brines. If you are buying a sulfonated polymer or a phosphate stabilizer from someone else, send the spec and we will say plainly whether we have a match.
